Mitoji Yabunaka, Japanese Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs,speaks on 'The State of Japanese Diplomacy Today and Prospects for Tomorrow’

On Thursday 9 October Mr Mitoji Yabunaka, Japanese Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, will speak on 'The State of Japanese Diplomacy Today and Prospects for Tomorrow’ from 11am-12:30pm.

 

As Vice Minister, Mr. Mitoji  Yabunaka is the senior-most civil servant in the Japanese Foreign Ministry.   He took up the position this past spring, having served in several other senior positions in the Ministry.  As head of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau from 2002-2005, he participated in several high-level talks on the North Korean nuclear issue.   His overseas postings  have included the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Switzerland (Geneva) and the United States, including as consul general in Chicago. In 1990-1991, he was a senior researcher at IISS.  We are happy to welcome him back.

 

This meeting will be chaired by Mark Fitzpatrick, Senior Fellow for Non-Proliferation, and will take place on the First Floor at Arundel House,13-15 Arundel Street, Temple Place, London WC2R 3DX.
