Imran Khan, former world renowned cricket player, became a politician in 1996 when he created Pakistan’s Movement for Justice. From 2002-2007 he was a Member of Parliament and campaigned on a platform of increased democracy, anti-corruption and an independent judiciary. Imran Khan did not participate in Pakistan’s February 2008 elections out of principle.
Imran Khan does not agree with Pakistan’s current strategy in the fight against terrorism. He believes the government’s strategy is leading to a 'civil war' in the border region with Afghanistan, a region which he is one of the few politicians to have visited..
