On Monday 3 November Mr Wu Hongbo, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, People’s Republic of China, will speak on 'China in the post-Olympic era’ from 2:30-3:30pm at Arundel House.
Mr Wu Hongbo was appointed Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2007 and his areas of responsibility comprise Europe, information and consular affairs. Mr Wu joined the diplomatic service in 1976 and held a number of positions both in Beijing and abroad. His higher ranking postings included Senior Chinese Representative (Ambassadorial Rank) in the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group, Director-General of the Department of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Deputy Commissioner, of the MFA in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to the Republic of the Philippines, and Director-General of the MFA’s General Office.
This meeting will be chaired by Nigel Inkster CMG, Director of Transnational Threats and Political Risk, and will take place on the fifth floor at Arundel House.
