On Tuesday 11 November 2008 Dr. Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu, Executive Director, Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA), Sri Lanka, will speak on ‘Sri Lanka: Can Peace be won on the Battlefield?’ from 12:30-1:30 pm.
Dr. Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu received his PhD and first degree from the London School of Economics (LSE), University of London, in 1986 and 1979 respectively. He is currently Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA) an independent and non-partisan public policy institute focusing on issues of democratic governance, human rights and peace through programmes of research and advocacy.
Dr Saravanamuttu is a Co-Convenor of the Centre for Monitoring Election Violence (CMEV) and a Member of the Board of the Sri Lanka Chapter of Transparency International as well as a Member of the Advisory Board of the Berghof Foundation for Peace Support and the Sri Lanka Advisory Group of the Asia Pacific Leadership Forum on HIV/AIDs and Development.
