Arun Shourie, MP speaks on "Evolving Indian Scenarios: Domestic Politics & Foreign Policy"

Mr. Arun Shourie is a prominent Indian journalist, author and politician. A Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he was elected to the Rajya Sabha in July 1998. In 2003-04, he served as India’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government. Earlier, he had served as the Minister of State for Disinvestment.

 

A former Editor of the Indian Express, he has written several influential books, including Courts and their Judgements: Premises, Prerequisites, Consequences (2001); The World of Fatwas, Or, the Shariah in Action (1995); Mrs Gandhi's Second Reign (1983) and Hinduism: Essence and Consequence (1980). He writes regularly in the Indian media.


Mr. Arun Shourie has received a number of awards, including the Padma Bhushan, the Magsaysay Award, and the Dadabhai Naoroji Award. He was educated at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and Syracuse University, New York, from where he received his doctorate in Economics.
