On Tuesday 27 May 2008, Ambassador Rajiv Sikri and Dr. Marie Lall will speak on ‘“Evolving Indian Scenarios: Domestic Politics & Foreign Policy” from 11:30 am-12:30 pm.
Ambassador Rajiv Sikri was the Secretary (Deputy Minister) in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, till late 2006, in charge of India’s relations with Central Asia, Caucasus, East Asia, ASEAN, the Pacific region, the Arab world, Israel and Iran. Earlier, he was Special Secretary (Economic Relations) and Additional Secretary (Strategy & Research) in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. In the latter post he was responsible for long-term strategic planning and forecasting. He also served as Ambassador of India to Kazakhstan and as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Paris.
Dr Marie Lall, FRSA is a Lecturer at the University of London (Institute of Education), an Associate Fellow on the Asia Programme at Chatham House, and an Honorary Fellow at the Institute of South Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore. Her research focuses on the politics of South Asia, specifically India, Pakistan as well as Myanmar. She has written widely on issues of political economy, energy security, foreign policy formulation including pipeline diplomacy and diaspora politics. She is the author of India’s Missed Opportunity.
