On Thursday 17 January 2008, Brigadier General ATM Amin (Director, Counter Terrorism Bureau, Bangladesh) will lead a discussion meeting on the topic of "Security Threats and Terrorism in Bangladesh" from 12 noon - 1.30 pm.

 

Brigadier-General ATM Amin is responsible for the overall conduct of counter-terrorism work in Bangladesh, including both the conduct of operations, capacity building, foreign liaison and the formulation of a national counter-terrorism strategy.  He was appointed to his present post in 2005.

 

Brigadier-General Amin is a career military officer with 28 years’ service which includes a tour of duty with United Nations peacekeeping forces.  He has occupied senior command positions and has worked in the areas of intelligence and strategic management as well as developing his academic career.  He has made numerous presentations on security issues including terrorism, conflict management and good governance and has an in-depth knowledge of South Asian regional security, terrorism, geo-strategic and political issues.We are delighted to welcome Brigadier General Amin to the IISS.
