C Boden Gray speaks on ‘Eurasian Energy: Competition, Challenges and Security’

C Boyden Gray was named Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Diplomacy in July 2008. Prior to this Mr. Gray was Special Envoy for European Union Affairs and U.S. Representative to the European Union in Brussels from 2006 to 2007.


From 1969 to 1981 and 1993 to 2005, Mr. Gray was a partner in the Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale and Dorr law firm in Washington.  He was White House Counsel in the administration of President George H.W. Bush (1989-1993) and earlier served as Legal Counsel to Vice President Bush (1981-1989).

 

In his speech to the IISS, C Boyden Gray discussed the strategic nature of the Eurasian region, the competition between different actors to gain access to its energy resources and the impact this competition could have on global security in the current economic climate.  

 

This meeting was chaired by Nigel Inkster, IISS Director of Transnational Threats and Political Risk, and took place on the fifth floor at Arundel House.
