6 Mar 07 - Discussion Meeting - Dr Thant Myint-U

On Tuesday 6 March 2007, Dr Thant Myint-U will give a talk on "Rethinking Burma: the Failure of International Policy and the Need to Understand Burma's Past" from 10am.
Dr Thant Myint-U is a former Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge and is the author of the recently published The River of Lost Footsteps: Histories of Burma. He served for more than ten years with the United Nations, including with peacekeeping operations in Cambodia (1992-3) and the former Yugoslavia (1994-6), and most recently as the head of policy planning in the UN Department of Political Affairs. He was educated at Harvard and Cambridge, and is currently a Visiting Senior Fellow at the International Peace Academy in New York.
