5 Feb 07 - First IISS-MEA Foreign Policy Dialogue on India

Keynote speakers IISS-MEA Foreign Policy Dialogue
On Monday 5 February 2007, the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in collaboration with the Public Diplomacy Division of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, will hold the first of a series of foreign policy dialogues with India.
 
This one-day seminar will take place at the IISS. It will begin at 10:00 hrs with a Keynote Address delivered by a senior UK official.  A five-member team of senior officials and experts from India will participate and make brief presentations in three sessions, along with speakers from the IISS/UK.  There will be nearly an hour for discussion following each session.  The presentations and the discussion will be on-the-record.

The Dialogue will focus on three major themes:
  • 'Growing Asian Economies: Challenges & Opportunities' which examines the unprecedented simultaneous rise of two large economies in Asia with a focus on global energy and environmental issues
  • 'UK-India Partnership in a Global Perspective' which explores prospects for UK-India cooperation with special emphasis on economic and political issues
  • 'Terrorism & Transnational Security Challenges in South Asia' which delves into regional issues and India's neighbourhood.
