12 Feb 07 - Discussion Meeting - Christopher Ford

On Monday 12 February 2007 Christopher Ford, U.S. Special Representative for Nuclear Nonproliferation, will lead a discussion on "Perspectives on the Nuclear Nonproliferation Regime" from 11-12 noon.
Dr Christopher Ford joined the State Department in April 2003 and was recently appointed as United States Special Representative for Nuclear Nonproliferation.  His purpose in visiting London is to discuss U.S. Perspectives on the NPT and the Nuclear Nonproliferation Regime during the Current NPT Review Cycle.
 
Previously Dr Ford he served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, as well as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Compliance Policy, in the Bureau of Verification, Compliance, and Implementation.  Prior to coming to the Department, he served as Minority Counsel and then as General Counsel to the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI).  Dr Ford’s prior positions include that of Staff Director and Chief Counsel for the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations of the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, Chief Investigative Counsel for the Governmental Affairs Committee, Appellate Litigation Advisor for the Special Court for Sierra Leone in Freetown, West Africa, and National Security Advisor to U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME). 
 
Dr Ford graduated summa cum laude from Harvard in 1989, received his doctorate from Oxford University in 1992 as a Rhodes Scholar, and graduated from the Yale Law School in 1995.  He has published articles on topics of nonproliferation law and policy, national security law, intelligence history, international law, and comparative law.
