  • Discussion Meeting - Dr Shmuel Bar On Monday 26 February 2007 Dr Shmuel Bar, Director of Studies, Institute of Policy and Strategy, Israel, will lead a discussion on "Iranian Grand Strategy and Decision Making" from 1.30-2.30pm.
  • Discussion Meeting - Steven Simon Simon1On Thursday 22 February 2007 Steven Simon, Hasib J. Sabbagh Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Studies, Council on Foreign Relations, lead a discussion meeting on "The Case for US Military Disengagement from Iraq" from 1pm.
  • Address - Lord Ashdown Lord Ashdown speaking at the IISSOn Wednesday 21 February 2007, the Lord Ashdown of Norton-sub-Hamdon GCMG KBE PC will be speaking on “The world after Iraq – will we ever intervene again?” The Talk will begin at 10.30am with a Q & A session from 11.15am. The meeting will be off-the-record and conclude at 12 noon. This event is open to IISS members only.
  • Symposium - David Richards Afghan symposiumOn Wednesday 14 February the International Institute for Strategic Studies, in cooperation with the Senlis Council, will be hosting a symposium on "A Cohesive Strategy for the Future of Afghanistan: Reconciling Counter-Insurgency, Counter-Narcotics and Reconstruction Efforts". An on-the-record press conference will run from 9.45-10.45am beforehand, and the main off-the-record event will start at 11am.

  • Discussion Meeting - Anatol Lieven On Tesuday 6 February 2007 Anatol Lieven will lead a discussion meeting on "Pakistan as the Priority: Britain and the Afghan War" from 4-5pm.
  • 6 Feb 2007 - IISS-Asia Seminar Series - Dr Paul T Mitchell Asia Seminar SeriesOn Tuesday 6 February 2007, Dr Paul T Mitchell (Associate Professor, S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University) addressed Members of the Institute on "Network Centric Warfare: Coalition Operations in the Age of US Military Primacy".
  • Discussion Panel - Allin, Dodge and Said On Thursday 1 February 2007 the IISS will host a panel discussion on "America and Iraq: Assessing the 'Surge'" from 1.30pm. The panellists will be: Dr Dana Allin, Senior Fellow for Transatlantic Affairs; Editor of Survival, IISS; Dr Toby Dodge, Consulting Senior Fellow for the Middle East, IISS; and Mr Yahia Said, Research Fellow, Centre for the Study of Global Governance.
  • Book launch - Professor Navnita Chadha Behera On Thursday 1 February 2007 Professor Navnita Chadha Behera will be launching her new book Demystifying Kashmir from 2-3pm.
  • First Foreign Policy Dialogue on India Keynote speakers IISS-MEA Foreign Policy DialogueOn Monday 5 February 2007, the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in collaboration with the Public Diplomacy Division of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, will hold the first of a series of foreign policy dialogues with India.
