18 Apr 07 - Discussion Meeting - Dr Keir Lieber and Dr Daryl Press

On Wednesday 18 April 2007 Dr Keir Lieber and Dr Daryl Press will lead a discussion meeting on 'US Nuclear Primacy' from 5.30-6.30pm, focusing on how recent changes in the U.S., Russian, and Chinese nuclear arsenals have potentially resulted in a new era of U.S. nuclear primacy.
Dr Keir A. Lieber is Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame. He specialises in international relations theory, international conflict and security, and U.S. foreign policy. Dr Lieber is a Fellow of the Joan B. Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies and the Nanovic Institute for European Studies. He is author of War and the Engineers: The Primacy of Politics over Technology (Cornell University Press, 2005).
 
Dr Daryl G. Press is Associate Professor of Government at Dartmouth College. He specialises in decision-making during international crises, military technology and the future of warfare, and the balance of power in East Asia. Dr Press is the author of Calculating Credibility: How Leaders Assess Military Threats (Cornell University Press, 2005).
 
Drs Lieber and Press have stimulated intense debate on U.S. nuclear primacy since the publication of their argument in both International Security and Foreign Affairs.
