On Friday 17 November 2006, Prof Jitendra Dhoj Khand, Departmnet Political Science, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Napal will talk on "The Military and the Maoists in Napal" as part of the IISS South Asia Programme.
Dr Jitendra Dhoj Khand is a Professor at the Department of Political Science at Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, with a long association with the Royal Nepali Military Academy as a Visiting Professor (2002-2006), Dean (1998-2000) and Head of Department (1995-98). For ten years, he also concurrently served as a Visiting Professor at the Command and Staff College of the Royal Nepal Army. From 2000-2002, Prof Khand was at the Civil Service Academy in East Timor.
During his distinguished academic career, Prof Khand has written and edited several books, including on "Strategic Thought", "National Security", "Zone of Peace and SAARC", and "Nepal-Britain Relations". In addition, he has published nearly a hundred articles on peace & security, international relations and foreign policy in national and international journals. Prof Khand is also actively involved in historical and community affairs. He is Co-President of the Nepal National Historical Academy and President of the Nepal-East Timor Friendship Association. He was also the first General Secretary of the Nepal Boxing Association.
