9 Mar 06 - Address - H.E. K.K. Tokaev

On Thursday 9 March 2006 H.E. K.K. Tokaev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, will give an address on "Kazakhstan in the Context of the Geo-Politics of the Caspian" from 11am. The Address and Questions and Answers will last one hour.
Kassymzhomart Tokaev was born on 17 May 1953. He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Beijing Language Institute. He has a PhD in Political Sciences and speaks English, Chinese and French. Mr. Tokaev has a diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
 
After graduating the Moscow State Institute of Foreign Relations he served at the central office of the USSR 's MFA and its missions abroad. Since March 1992, MrTokaev served as a Deputy Minister, and later as a First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From October 1994, he served as Minster of Foreign Affairs and, from March 1999, as Deputy Prime-Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
 
From October 1999 to January 2002 he served as Prime-Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, then from January 2002 to June 2003 he served as State Secretary-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since June 2003 to the present, he holds the office of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
