On Friday 30 June 2006 H.E Mr Sabihuddin Ahmend, High Commissioner for Bangladesh to the UK, will speak on "Bangladesh: Challenges and Opportunities in a Globalised World". The meeting will begin at 12.30 pm and conclude at 1.30pm.
The 'Envoys Forum', launched in January 2004, aims to encourage interaction between resident South Asian heads of mission in the UK/Europe and the UK strategic community. This is an occasional series of High Commissioner/Ambassador-level talks and H.E Sabihuddin Ahmed will deliver the third address in this series.
H.E. Mr Sabihuddin Ahmed has been the High Commissioner for Bangladesh to the UK since October 2005. Prior to this assignment, he was the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Sweden. In Bangladesh, he has served as Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, Begum Khaleda Zia, during her first term in office (1991-1996), and as Secretary to the Ministry of Environment & Forests (1996-1998). He was also Private Secretary to the Minister of Information (1982-1983) and the Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (1978-1981). Educated at Dhaka University, he joined government service in January 1971.
