24 Feb 06 - Roundtable Discussion - Mark Fitzpatrick

On Friday 24 February 2006 Mark Fitzpatrick, IISS Senior Fellow for Non Proliferation, will lead a discussion on "The North Korea Nuclear Problem". This event will take place between 9:30-11:30 am.
The roundtable discussion will feature Professor Kun Young Park from the Department of International Relations, Catholic University of Korea, who will address the Six Party Talks and offer some policy recommendations, and Dr Hyun-Ik Hong, Senior Researcher at Sejong Institute, who will address the Roh Administration’s North Korea policy.

Amidst the escalating nuclear crisis with Iran, it behooves us to remember, and, if possible, to draw lessons from the earlier and on-going nuclear stand-off with North Korea.  Both of our featured scholars are widely published (in English and Korean) and have keen insights into the North Korean problem, particularly as seen from a South Korean perspective that may differ in key regards from the mainstream North American and European views.  After short presentations by Professor Park and Dr Hong, Mr Fitzpatrick will chair a discussion.

This meeting will take place on the 4th Floor of Arundel House, 13-15 Arundel Street, WC2R 3DX.  Members and special guests who would like to attend are asked to notify Marina Vaughan at vaughan@iiss.org or tel. +44 (0)20 7395 9153.

Seats are allocated on a first notified, first registered basis. This meeting will be on the record.
