26 Apr 06 - Round Table Discussion - Mr Ajit Doval

On Wednesday 26 April 2006 Mr Ajit Doval, former Director of the Intelligence Bureau, India, will be leading a discussion on "India's Internal Security: Present and Future" from 2.30-3.30pm..
 
Mr Ajit Doval joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1968. After a few years in uniform, he worked as a career intelligence officer for over 33 years. Besides serving in the Northeast, Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab, he held diplomatic assignments in Pakistan and the UK. He headed the operations wing of India’s Intelligence Bureau for over a decade, responsible for counter-terrorism, counter-intelligence and counter- insurgency. Mr Doval retired as Director, Intelligence Bureau, in January 2005.
 
Mr Doval is a graduate of the Indian National Defence College in New Delhi. He is a recipient of the Kirti Chakra, one of the highest military gallantry awards, the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service, and the Indian Police Medal for meritorious service. Since retirement, he has been the Secretary General of the Policy Perspective Foundation, a think tank studying national and global security issues.
