  • Book Launch - Sir Alistair Horne On Tuesday 14 November 2006 Sir Alistair Horne will lead a conversation on "A Savage War of Peace: from Algeria to Iraq and Afghanistan" and its relevance to the on-going conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, in honour of the republishing of his book A Savage War of Peace, Algeria 1954-1962.
  • Panel Discussion - MacDonald & Kanwall On Thursday 9 November 2006, the IISS will host a panel discussion between Myra MacDonald, former Bureau Chief of Reuters in New Delhi, and Brigadier (retd) Gurmeet Kanwal, Indian Army, Visiting Senior Research Fellow, South Asian Strategic Stability Unit (SASSU), London & Senior Fellow, Centre for Air Power Studies, New Delhi. The panel will discuss "The Siachen Conflict Revisited: Toward Disengagement & Demilitarization?" from 2.30-3.45pm.
  • Address - H.E. Lech Kaczyński On Tuesday 7 November 2006 H.E. Lech Kaczynski, President of the Republic of Poland, addressed the IISS on "What Vision Does Europe Need?" from 5pm. The Address and Q&A session lasted 45 minutes.
  • Book Launch - Brian Wicker and Hugh Beach On Monday 6 November 2006 Brian Wicker and Hugh Beach will launch their new book, 'Britain's Bomb: What Next? from 5.30-7pm.
  • 6 Nov 2006 - IISS-Asia Seminar Series - Dr Toby Dodge Asia Seminar SeriesOn Monday 6 November 2006, Dr Toby Dodge (IISS Consulting Senior Fellow for the Middle East; Reader in International Politics, Queen Mary, University of London) addressed Members of the Institute on "The Causes and Consequences of American Failure in Iraq".
  • Corporate Event - Rt Hon Sir Malcolm Rifkind On Wednesday 1 November 2006 the Rt Hon Sir Malcolm Rifkind MP, former Defence Secretary and Foreign Secretary, will address Coporate Members and a few Special Guests on "Future Prospects for the Middle East".
