26 October 2005 - Discussion Meeting - Prof. Arie Arnon, Mr. Saeb Bamya, Dr. Ron Pundak and Dr. Saad Khatib

On Wednesday 26 October 2005 the following members of the Aix Group will be speaking on "Economic Arrangements between Israel and Palestine: Disengagement and the Economic Road Map" from 1.30pm:
  • Prof. Arie Arnon, Israeli coordinator of the Aix Group and a Professor at the Ben Gurion University, Israel;
  • Mr. Saeb Bamya, Palestinian Coordinator of the Aix Group and the Under secetary at the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy;
  • Dr. Ron Pundak, Director General of the Peres Center for Peace; and
  • Dr. Saad Khatib, Director at the Palestinian Trade organization PalTrade  

The "Aix Group" of Palestinians and Israelis was established in July 2002 to assess and address the joint Palestinian-Israeli economic situation. In January 2004, the group published their first joint position paper entitled the "Economic Road Map", which presented a model for long-term Palestinian-Israeli economic relations. More recently, in May 2005, the group published their second position paper, entitled "Israel and Palestine: Between Disengagement and the Economic Road Map". This paper presents the risks and opportunities associated with Israel's unilateral withdrawal from Gaza (For download: www.aixgroup.u-3mrs.fr).
