On Wednesday 26 October 2005 the following members of the Aix Group will be speaking on "Economic Arrangements between Israel and Palestine: Disengagement and the Economic Road Map" from 1.30pm:
Prof. Arie Arnon, Israeli coordinator of the Aix Group and a Professor at the Ben Gurion University, Israel;
Mr. Saeb Bamya, Palestinian Coordinator of the Aix Group and the Under secetary at the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy;
Dr. Ron Pundak, Director General of the Peres Center for Peace; and
Dr. Saad Khatib, Director at the Palestinian Trade organization PalTrade
The "Aix Group" of Palestinians and Israelis was established in July 2002 to assess and address the joint Palestinian-Israeli economic situation. In January 2004, the group published their first joint position paper entitled the "Economic Road Map", which presented a model for long-term Palestinian-Israeli economic relations. More recently, in May 2005, the group published their second position paper, entitled "Israel and Palestine: Between Disengagement and the Economic Road Map". This paper presents the risks and opportunities associated with Israel's unilateral withdrawal from Gaza (For download:
