On Monday 7 November 2005 Steven Simon, Former Assistant Director of the IISS and Former Senior Director of the US National Security Council, will be speaking on "The Next Attack: The Globalization of Jihad". This event will take place between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
Steven Simon, who teaches at Georgetown University, is the former Assistant Director and Carol Deane Senior Fellow at the IISS, and a former Senior Director of the US National Security Council. He is the author, with Daniel Benjamin, of The Next Attack: The Globalization of Jihad, about which former US President Bill Clinton has stated: “For anyone who cares about the security of the West and its relationship with the Muslim world, The Next Attack is a book that must be read.” Simon’s previous book, The Age of Sacred Terror, also co-authored with Benjamin, was a New York Times ‘Notable Book’, a Washington Post bestseller and won the Council on Foreign Relations’ award for best book of 2004. Simon is a frequent contributor to Survival and other journals, as well as The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and other newspapers.
