On Wednesday 13 July 2005 Dr. Rhoderick Chalmers, Deputy South Asia Project Director, International Crisis Group, Kathmandu, Nepal lead a discussion on "Nepal: Responding to the Royal Coup". This event took place between 11am-12 noon.
Dr. Chalmers is responsible for International Crisis Group’s reporting and analysis on Nepal’s Maoist insurgency. Before joining International Crisis Group, he worked as Editor, Contributions to Nepalese Studies and Visiting Fellow, Centre for Nepal and Asian Studies, Kathmandu, from 2003 to 2005. He completed his PhD in modern South Asian cultural history from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London.
Dr. Chalmers is the author of several articles, published in the Financial Times, Kathmandu Post and other local and international newspapers. He has also contributed to several books, including The Nepalis in Northeast India (2003) and Language and National Identity in Asia (forthcoming).
