The 13th IISS Regional Security Summit: The Shangri-La Dialogue has concluded. The three-day summit in Singapore was the largest to date with some 450 delegates in attendance.

PLA General Wang Guangzhong departed from his prepared address to attack the speeches made by Chuck Hagel and Shinzo Abe as ‘provocative actions against China’ in a heated opening to the final day of the 2014 Asia Security Summit.

'The 21st century is indisputably the Asia-Pacific century. We foresee five of the top 11 global economies being Asia-Pacific nations by 2025', said Senator David Johnston, Australia's Minister for Defence.
China has undertaken destabilizing, unilateral actions asserting its claims in the South China Sea said US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel. In his speech on Saturday he outlined the principles underlying US strategy in the Asia-Pacific.

Giving the Keynote Address at the 2014 Shangri-La Dialogue, Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe stressed the importance of the rule of law in resolving Asia's disputes and said Japan would pursue a policy of 'proactive contribution to peace'.
