Summit Check-In

The IISS Shangri-La Dialogue will take place in a secured zone at the Shangri-La Hotel and entry will only be granted to those with an official IISS security ID tag.
ID tags should be collected in person at the summit check-in desk. To pick up your badge, you must present your press credentials along with photo identification. Check-in for all press participants will take place on the Mezzanine Floor of the Shangri-La Hotel from Friday 2 June at 10:00.

Dossier Launch and Mandatory Press Briefing

There will be an IISS Strategic Dossier book launch - including the opening press conference - on Friday 2 June at 17:30.

At 19:15, following the launch there will be a mandatory briefing for all members of the press corps. Press corps will not be permitted to attend the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue if they have not attended the mandatory briefing.

Media Policy

Coverage of The Shangri-La Dialogue by the media must be carried out with the understanding that the IISS will be afforded the right to reproduce articles submitted as a result of attendance at the Dialogue both in its publications and on its website, and will also have the right to use images taken at the event, in generally but not exclusively the same formats, free of charge.   

The IISS, based in London, is both a limited company in UK law and a registered charity. It has offices in the US, Singapore and Bahrain with charitable status in each jurisdiction. 

Interview Requests

In advance of the Dialogue, media may request interviews with IISS staff who will be present at the summit.

IISS Experts attending Shangri-La

During the Dialogue, IISS press officers will endeavour to make available the details of the public affairs or press officer travelling with the delegations to facilitate the arrangement of interviews where possible.

Media are otherwise encouraged to request interviews directly with delegates, but notify the Press Office ([email protected]) if an interview has been scheduled.

Should you need assistance with a location for your interview the press officer can book you into a dedicated interview room, subject to availability.

Journalists who manage to obtain interviews with summit participants are free to report statements provided they have the full understanding and agreement of the interviewee.
