26 Mar 2008 - - Daily Mirror (Sri Lanka) - Fox here for political consensus
In June 2007 Dr. Fox met Minister Bogollagama at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore where the latter had encouraged him to return to Sri Lanka after an absence of more than a decade, to see at first hand the political developments that had taken place.
12 Feb 2008 - - Straits Times - Singapore sees crucial role for Asean in shaping Asian security
Singapore Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean, in an address to the Munich Conference on Security Policy, has said the new economic realities in Asia will also have long-term strategic and security implications. And Asean, which lies at the heart of many multilateral groupings such as the Asean Regional Forum, the East Asia Summit and the Shangri-La Dialogue, was well placed to play a unique role in the evolving Asian security architecture.

I've said this before and I said this in the presence of Paul Wolfowitz, one of the architects of the invasion, at an IISS conference two months after the fall of Saddam Hussein, when some-one asked me what will happen in Iraq. DEFENCE Minister Teo Chee Hean describes South-east Asia's multi-layered security architecture, with its mix of formal and informal structures: First, at the multilateral level there are security forums with broad memberships, such as the Asean Regional Forum which groups 27 countries. In a less formal setting is the annual Shangri-La Dialogue - the only forum where defence ministers from the region and beyond get together.
18 Jan 2008 - - Channel News Asia - American leaders receptive to message, says Teo Chee Hean
Mr Teo said: "China, India, Japan - all these countries are seeking to engage countries in Southeast Asia more actively. And I suggested to them that the US may also want to see in what creative ways they can ex-pand their already very strong relationships that they have with various countries in the region, and also as a collective with ASEAN." Mr Teo also met US Defence Secretary Robert Gates, who said he will attend the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.
