The Bahrain Global Forum (BGF) has been designed by The International Institute for Strategic Studies as a summit meeting of key political figures, finance and treasury ministers and officials, business people, economists, strategists and leaders of international economic and financial institutions. 

 

The Bahrain Global Forum will be convened from 14-16 May 2010.

The 5th IISS Regional Security Summit: The Manama Dialogue  ran from 12 to 14 December 2008 in Bahrain.

 

Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bahrain gave the Keynote Address. On Saturday 13 December Robert Gates, US Secretary of Defense addressed the First Plenary Session: 'The US and the Regional Balance of Power'. Other speakers included Dr Barham Saleh, Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq, John Hutton, Secretary of State for Defence, UK and General David Petraeus, Commander of US CENTCOM. Read More 

The Shangri-La Dialogue 2009

006 Kevin Rudd, Prime Minister of Australia, delivers the Keynote Address

The 8th Shangri-La Dialogue was convened in Singapore from 29 to 31 May, 2009. The Keynote Address was delivered by Kevin Rudd, Prime Minister of Australia.
 

The Shangri-La Dialogue is recognised as a key event for defence and security diplomacy for the region. Since its inaugural meeting in 2002, the Dialogue has become an integral part of the architecture of Asian defence diplomacy and is seen as the region's premier and most inclusive security institution.
