Bahraini Crown Prince and Commander in Chief of the Bahraini Defence Force Sheikh Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifah received Premier and Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani at the Manama Ritz-Carlton Hotel yesterday on the sidelines of the fourth Manama Dialogue security conference.They reviewed the fraternal relations between Qatar and Bahrain and ways to enhance them in all fields, as well as issues of common interest.

The Manama Dialogue, which is held in Bahrain from 7 to 9 December, brings together the national security establishments of participating states from the Gulf and beyond to exchange views on regional security challenges.

"There is no doubt that Iraq needs a strong and honest partner today that has the ability and is ready to help Iraq," al-Hashemi said during an address at a regional security conference in Bahrain. "Yes, I am for an agreement with the United States of America, but this does not mean that Iraq will not be able to sign bilateral agreements with other countries in the world."

Iran's Foreign Ministry criticised comments by US Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who said in Bahrain on Saturday that Iran posed a threat to the United States and the region despite the US intelligence estimate, which was published on Dec 3. "Such statements are interfering in the internal affairs of the countries of the region and they are trying to mar cooperation among regional powers," spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini told a news conference on Sunday.
