On Wednesday 25 April 2007 Lieutenant General Karlheinz Viereck gave a talk on "Europe can do it - Reflections on EU Operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo" as part of the Military Leaders Forum.
Lieutenant General Viereck had from April 2006 to February 2007 the command of the EUFOR mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo as appointed EU Operation Commander. Previous posts have included: Commander of the Bundeswehr Operations Command in Potsdam, Commander of the 4th Air Division in Aurich and Deputy Chief of Staff and Director Operations at the NATO Joint Command HQ Northern Europe in Norway.
The Military Leaders Forum has been established to provide a platform for international military officials to address some of the critical issues and ideas affecting war and peace in the twenty-first century.
