Bahrain Global Forum - Free Broadcast Footage

The IISS is pleased announce free broadcast quality footage of the Bahrain Global Forum for media use in the nightly news, internet stories, and other mediums through The NewsMarket. Select video clips in the floor language will be uploaded immediately before the security summit begins, during the proceedings, and for approximately one month after the conference concludes.

17 May 2012 - Key Address - Time for a treaty: Why the arms industry must have global standards There are currently no international standards controlling the global arms trade. Alan Duncan, in an address to the IISS on Thursday 17 May, argued that while the UK has a strong arms-control system, this is not the case in all countries. Without legally binding, internationally agreed standards, he maintains, an irresponsible arms trade will continue fuelling conflicts, human-rights abuses and corruption.

09 May 2012 - Discussion Meeting - The EU and Opportunities in the Arctic Diminishing sea ice in the Arctic Ocean has awakened global interest in the opportunities offered for energy, shipping, fishing and tourism. However, this environmental state-change has also introduced risks, and there is an urgent need for policy change to promote peaceful uses of the Arctic Ocean. Paul Berkman, Distinguished Fulbright Scholar and Research Professor, University of California Santa Barbara discussed 'The EU and Opportunities in the Arctic' on Wednesday 09 May.
