Defence Economist
Main responsibilities: Responsible for the compilation and analysis of economic data, military expenditures and arms transfers for The Military Balance. Areas of specialisation include: defence budgetary analysis, defence industries, the international trade in conventional weapons, and various aspects of the economics of defence spending, including the strategic economic effects of military expenditure, the costs and benefits of military research and development, and defence conversion.
