Managing Director, IISS-Middle East  

 

Main Responsibilities: Overseeing operations and initiatives of the IISS in the Middle East. Working in particular with the national security establishments in the region and coordinating their participation in various IISS activities.

 

Background: Mark read Arabic and Persian at Pembroke College, Oxford University. Having worked as a political risk analyst, he moved to Reuters as a Middle East research editor and following a six month tour in Iraq with the British Military in 2004 as an interpreter and translator he returned to the UK to join the IISS.
