Consulting Press Officer

     

 

Main Responsibilities:  Kay Floyd is the Consulting Press Officer.

She coordinates media communications and provides support for the IISS Asia Security Summit in Singapore and the IISS Regional Security Summit in Bahrain. Kay assists other IISS press activities, as required.

 

Background: After serving three years in the Institute’s Washington, DC office, Kay has relocated to Singapore to pursue a PhD on Homegrown Jihadism with the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University.  She serves as a Research Analyst for Indonesian issues at the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research.

 

Kay Floyd received a BA in Government from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and a MA War Studies from Kings College London, where her focus was on contemporary security and insurgency.  She previously worked in Bangkok as a Legal Officer for the Chief Judge of the Office of the President of the Supreme Court, and as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Technology in Virginia, following her selection as a Governor’s Fellow.  Kay has received several recognitions, including a Certificate of Appreciation by General David Petraeus for her assistance to the Multi-National Force-Iraq.
