On Thursday 10 December 2009 David Robson, Head of Energy and Environmental Foresight, Directorate for Business, Enterprise and Energy, The Scottish Government, and Carol Dumaine, Deputy Director for Energy and Environmental Security, Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence, U.S. Department of Energy will speak on “Security, Climate Change and Uncertainty: Rethinking Strategic Risk” from 5-6pm.
The discussion will be moderated by Andrew Holland, Programme Manager and Research Associate,Transatlantic Dialogue on Climate Change and Security.
The threat of climate change will require a reassessment of how the security community looks at risk. Carol Dumaine and David Robson are the founders of the Global Energy & Environment Strategic Ecosystem, a collaborative international network. Carol Dumaine will focus on the need to create new capacities in the security community for dealing with the unexpected, such as threats related to climate change, and David Robson will discuss lessons learned about how to respond to non‐traditional threats like climate change. There will be time for discussion.
