Dr Risto Penttillä

Dr Penttilä  is Chief Executive and President of the Finland Chamber of Commerce, which is an umbrella organisation for 19 regional chambers and 17,000 enterprises. He is also Secretary General of the European Business Leaders’ Convention and a Member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Council. 

 

Prior to these current responsibilities, Dr Penttilä was Director at the Finnish Business and Policy Forum  EVA in Helsinki (2002-10), Senior Vice President at Oxford Analytica (2000-02), Director and Associate member of the Executive Board of the World Economic Forum in Geneva (1999-2000) and a Member of Parliament in Finland (1995-99).

 

He is a Doctor of Philosophy, University College, Oxford; Master of Philosophy, University College, Oxford; and Bachelor of Arts, Saybrook College, Yale University.

 

Dr Penttilä has published several books on international relations, as well as business and economic topics, and he contributes regularly to national and international media such as the Financial Times.

                  

He focuses his interests in the areas of the G8 and the G20; NATO; the European Union, Russian-European relations; the Nordic model (welfare, competitiveness, social cohesion); and corporate foreign policy.
