M.T. Alghanim is the Chairman of Fouad
Alghanim & Sons Group of Companies, a multinational, multi-operational body
of companies consisting of a number of fully independent divisions as well as
fully and partly owned subsidiary companies based in the U.S., Europe,
Australia, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
The Group engages in a number of diverse commercial enterprises including
manufacturing, civil construction, contracting, installation and maintenance of
all forms of mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment, investment
project management, hotel ownership, telecommunications engineering and
management, aviation projects, real estate development, industrial production
and general contracting, in both the local and international arenas and direct
representation of multinational commercial contractors
Mr.
Fouad Alghanim introduced mobile phones to Kuwait in the early 1970s, and was
the founder member of the largest cellular company in the Middle East in 1983,
MTC (Mobile Telecommunications Company) now called ZAIN where he served as Vice
Chairman from 1983 to 1997. He was also the co-founder and major partner &
Chairman of the Cellular Company UMNIA Telecommunication Company in Jordan.
As the owner
of Alghanim International, he steered this civil contracting company to becoming
one of the largest power construction companies in the Gulf with a total
erected Megawatt capacity of more than 3500MW, with a multi-billion dollar annual
turnover and earned the distinction of being the only EPC Contractor in the power
generation sector in Kuwait.
